Thanks Kevin - I'm a firm believer of that ancient saying that you're immortal as long as others remember you. Some days I consider myself lucky to have done what I did when I was young - I don't think I'd have the nerve later to sustain the momentum day after day of flight ops and stuff going sideways all the time...

For what it's worth, I found my fair share of bent pins on my ejection seat. Once is too many, and I'll never forget a hotseat when I found one and downed the jet to get it replaced. I think we still launched thanks to PR1 White - just not first off the deck.

Hey - I offered to swap seats with the TACCO since the crew was all fired up to launch with my seat crapped out. Unsurprisingly, there were no takers. ;-)

Safety of flight - prechecks - all that stuff mitigates risk, it never eliminates it.

Wendy was a student of mine at FASO on NASNI. One of the first of two west coast females to go through AW training. The other went on to be a SAR swimmer. I remember Wendy well, and was shocked and very sad about her loss.
"General" Lee was about a week away from checking into my command (HS-8) when his helo went down during an FCF at HS-10. A horrible accident that changed the way we all fly.
My partner-in-crime, and the funniest guy i ever knew, Grant Kerslake recently went down in a helo crash with all souls lost.
The list goes on and on.
These were friends and heroes and should all be remembered forever.
